Definition
THE POSITIONGolden West College is seeking three (3) full-time,
one-year, temporary equity-minded, faculty members in the Nursing
Department commencing with the Fall 2025 semester. These positions
are primarily responsible for teaching these areas:

of Huntington Beach, also known as "Surf City," Golden West College
is regarded as one of the most beautiful campuses in Southern

in the student's successful completion of the nursing program.
The School of Nursing Philosophy The person is an individual or a
family who brings unique characteristics to the nurse/person
interaction. Health is a dynamic, self-defined state of being that
exists along a continuum from wellness to illness and reflects the
person's interrelationship of mind, body, and spirit. The continuum
consists of the interaction of internal and external factors that
influence the overall health of persons. Nursing is both an art and
science founded on a professional body of knowledge that is a
dynamic and continually evolving discipline. In this discipline,
the nurse utilizes the nursing process substantiated with
scientific evidence to make timely and appropriate clinical
judgments in providing quality patient centered care. To support
decision-making, the nurse employs information technology in
collaboration with other members of the healthcare team. As nurses,
we employ our skills to meet patients wherever they need us and
thus provide healthcare in a variety of settings.The Nursing

Minimum QualificationsMust meet the minimum qualifications as set
by the Board of Registered Nursing and Accreditation Commission for
Education in Nursing (ACEN), which includes:1. A master's or higher
degree from an accredited college or university which includes
course work in nursing, education or administration ; and
2. Direct patient care experience within the previous five (5)
years in the nursing area to which he or she is assigned, which can
be met by: (A) One (1) year's continuous, full-time or its
equivalent experience providing direct patient care as a registered
nurse in the designated nursing area; or (B) One (1) academic year
of registered nurse level clinical teaching experience in the
designated nursing area or its equivalent that demonstrates
clinical competency; and
3. Completion of at least one (1) year's experience teaching
courses related to registered nursing or completion of a
post-baccalaureate course which includes practice in teaching
registered nursing.ANDEvidence of demonstrated sensitivity to and
understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural,
disability, geographic, gender, gender identity, and ethnic

Valid, unrestricted CA RN License
Preferred Qualifications Nursing and teaching experience in either
of these areas:Critical care or Mental Health and Medical Surgical
or Geriatric Medical SurgicalEvidence of an ability to communicate
effectively both orally and in writing.Minimum 1 year experience in
specialty area within the last 5 years.Recent community college or
undergraduate nursing clinical and/or teaching
experience.Willingness to examine and re-mediate one's
instructional, relational, and classroom practices to more
effectively engage and support racially minoritized
students.Experience and skill with addressing issues of equity in
the classroom.Experience and expertise in culturally responsive
teaching in nursing, particularly as it relates to the relevance of
nursing to students' lives, interests, and communities.Demonstrated
ability to address equity gaps within nursing courses and
classrooms.Evidence of an ability to self-reflect and respond to an
evidenced-based assessment of student learning.Desire and
demonstrated ability to participate actively in department,
division, and college committees and in the shared governance of
Coast Community College District.Desire and evidence of an ability
to take on leadership roles both within the department and in the
institution as a whole.Ability to work with computers and use the
Internet and interactive technologies to engage students in
on-campus and online courses (where academically

candidates will be recommended to move forward and will be invited

will make the final recommendation for employment to the Board of
Trustees. The successful candidate will be offered the position and
placed on the current salary schedule based on their education and
experience. The start date will be determined by the hiring manager
depending on the needs of the campus and the conditions of

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENTFor a full-time, two-semester position a
maximum starting range of $66,899 - $114,054 is offered, based on
the salary schedule of . In addition, an annual stipend of $3,902
is offered for possession of an earned doctorate from an accredited
institution. The District provides medical, dental, and vision
insurance for the employee and eligible dependents and life
insurance for the employee. Regular attendance is considered an
essential job function; the inability to meet attendance
requirements may preclude the employee from retaining employment.
The person holding this position is considered a mandated reporter
under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is
required to comply with the requirements set forth in Coast
Community College District policies, procedures, and Title IX.
