global impact.Principal Investigator, Ekihiro, MD, PhD is looking
for a Postdoctoral Scientist to join his research team!The primary
focus of the Seki Laboratory is to understand the role of innate
immune and inflammatory signals in chronic liver diseases such as
liver fibrosis, alcoholic and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis, and
hepatocellular carcinoma. To learn more about this research
specialty, please visit the Seki Lab .Working independently but in
close cooperation and in consultation with the Principal
Investigator and other Research Scientists, the Postdoctoral
Scientist will perform routine and complex laboratory procedures
throughout the training period. The incumbent may develop, adapt,
and implement new research techniques and protocols. This position
analyzes and interprets data and may assist in preparation of grant
proposals, participating in publications and presentations as
author or co-author. This position is not responsible for
generating grant funds.Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Designs and performs experiments, keeping appropriate
experimental records and documentation while analyzing the results
with the Principal Investigator.
- Analyzes, interprets, summarizes, and compiles data.
- Operates and maintains equipment and instruments.
- May observe MD-patient or MD-human research subject
interactions as it pertains directly to research being
performed.Department-Specific Duties:
- Performs cellular, micro- and molecular biology procedures
including, but not limited to, Western blot, DNA/RNA/protein
extraction, genotyping PCR, real-time PCR, cell culture,
transfection of plasmids, immunohistochemistry, and tissue
staining.
- Participates in projects investigating the role of innate
immune and inflammatory signals in chronic liver diseases,
including fatty liver, liver fibrosis, and liver malignancy, and
mechanisms of novel therapeutic targets for these liver diseases
using cell culture models (standard and microfluidic device) and
animal models.QualificationsEducation:
- Doctorate degree (MD, PhD, VMD, or DDS) in an area directly
related to field of research specialization.Experience and Skills:
- Works independently on research projects designed by a mentor
(typically the PI) within area of specialization.
- Acquires complete technical and theoretical knowledge of
research project and objectives during one to five (1-5) year
post-doctoral appointment.Physical Demands:Standing, Walking,
